The father of a soldier who was killed in Iraq is campaigning for the families of killed soldiers to be given the legal right to paid leave.
Bill Stewardson, whose 21-year-old son, Alex Green, was killed in 2007, was initially given one day’s paid leave from his job as an NHS porter to attend his son’s funeral. This was later extended to six days.
