Climate change

Increasingly, businesses will need to adapt both their strategy and premises in order to assess the risks, and mitigate the effects, of climate change. In applying enterprise and innovation to these challenges there is potential for opportunities to arise from climate change. Climate change is already having a relatively significant impact upon weather patterns. These impacts are set to become more extreme, with increasing temperatures and changes to seasonal weather patterns. These changes may result in higher levels of business premises damage and disruption caused by events such as flooding, strong winds or high temperatures. The Association of British Insurers predicts that weather damage in the UK is likely to double in a ‘normal’ year in the 2040s-60s, compared to a current year.
