We are grateful in particular to Mary Taffler, Secretary of the Facilities Management Association, for her assistance.

Guidance from the Chartered Institution of Chartered Building Services Engineers (CIBSE)
CIBSE Guide B2: Ventilation and air conditioning
This new Guide B2 (which replaces the old section B2/B3 of Guide B) is now available. The guide, a result of three years of DTI government funded work, provides new guidance on the strategic choice of ventilation method, describes the basic requirements for the ventilation of a wide range of building types from office space to TV studios and transport facilities, gives guidance on natural, mechanical and mixed mode systems and reviews ventilation and air conditioning equipment.
The Guide also deals with the legislation involved including changes to Part L of the building regulations, taxation and procurement practices and the draft European Directive on building energy performance.
It is envisaged that the new Guide will be an important tool for those wanting to deliver ventilation and cooling systems geared much more closely to the needs of clients and occupiers.
