A D-Day veteran who developed mesothelioma after being exposed to asbestos died from industrial disease, a coroner has ruled.

James Peacock, 86, from Pocklington, York, passed away in July 2008, a year after developing the asbestos-related cancer of the lung.

Mr Peacock performed critical communications tasks for the Second Tactical Airforce during Operation Overlord and the Normandy landings, ensuring that inland troops were given the supplies they needed.
