Experts have predicted lost profits and reduced productivity for businesses this summer if the biggest heatwave since 2006 continues, as has been forecast.
The Centre for Economics and Business Research (CEBR) has predicted that the expected heatwave over the coming days could result in costs of up to £162 million a day in lost productivity alone, particularly through staff arriving late and leaving early.
