Male staff at three North-East councils have won an equal pay claim. Legal experts are predicting that the ruling could see a flurry of similar cases.
300 male employees brought the claims against Hartlepool, South Tyneside and Middlesbrough Borough Councils. The men alleged that bonuses of up to 50% paid to male workers in comparable roles were unfair. At the same time, female employees also lodged claims that the bonuses were discriminatory.
