Move to block pleural plaques insurance criticised

A move by some of the UK’s largest insurers to challenge Scottish legislation to provide compensation to people with asbestos pleural plaques has been widely criticised.

Aviva, Axa, RSA and Zurich Insurance have applied for judicial review at the Court of Session in Edinburgh to oppose the Damages (Asbestos-related Conditions) (Scotland) Act, which received Royal Assent last week.
