Employers are being urged to realise the adverse effect stress can have on an organisation’s productivity, after a new study found that few managers believe this to be true. Research commissioned by Investors in People UK (IiP) suggests that nine out of 10 bosses (89 per cent) still do not regard stress as having a significant negative impact on productivity.

Stress is widely thought to cause more staff absences than any other illness, including the common cold. Work-related stress has received a huge amount of media attention in the last twelve months, and will be the focus of this year’s European Week for Safety and Health in October.
