Protecting workers from risk: HSE guidance

    Date:
    9 Jan 2002

    Print friendly version

HSE Guidance to “The Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at Work Regulations 1992” has been revised. These Regulations ensure that employers are providing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when required. Employers who are unsure if they comply with Regulations are advised to consult the updated leaflet.

The guide explains what type of equipment is covered by the Regulations and managers are reminded that such protection should only be used as a last resort, where other precautions do not suitably reduce the risk of harm to workers. Then, the equipment should be available free of charge to workers.
