Freeze minimum wage, business group urges

    The British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) is urging the Low Pay Commission to push to keep the National Minimum Wage at its current level next year and until economic conditions have significantly improved.

    The BCC has calculated that raising the minimum wage at the same rate as this year  would cost businesses £300m.

    It argues that hard-pressed businesses would be unable to afford a wage increase anywhere near that sum, and so there should be no increases in the minimum wage in 200... (169 more words)
