The HSE has warned businesses that they must keep accurate details of asbestos in their buildings before any construction work takes place. The HSE also said managers of non-domestic premises must ensure they act upon any information they hold about asbestos.
The warning comes after a Kirkcaldy-based company was fined £28,000 and director Edward Dean Melville was fined £7,000 at Dunfermline Sheriff Court for breaching health and safety regulations.
