Dismissal on ill health grounds: were the adjustments reasonable?

    In Staples v. E A Gibson Shipbrokers (2008), Mr Staples was employed as a broker by Gibson. He had a condition which led him to become dizzy and to black out. He remained off work from August 2004 until March 2006 when he was dismissed on ill-health capability grounds.

    He presented a claim before a Tribunal alleging that Gibson had failed to fulfil its duties to make reasonable adjustments for him. The Tribunal agreed.
