In Halliburton Manufacturing and Services Limited v. Ravat (2008), Mr Ravat was employed in 1990 by Halliburton which supplied tools and services and personnel to the oil industry.
In 2003 Mr Ravat went to work in Libya for a Halliburton company incorporated and based in Germany. Halliburton told him he would remain protected by UK law while he was working overseas. His line manager, who was based in Cairo, dismissed Mr Ravat by reason of redundancy in 2006.
