Government could relax pensions legislation

    Employers may no longer be forced to put funds into their pension scheme when their organisations restructure or are taken over.

    The Government is looking at changing section 75 of the 2004 Pensions Act, introduced to protect those with final salary schemes.

    Pensions minister Rosie Winterton has pledged to carry out a month-long informal consultation into section 75 following a meeting with the Confederation of British Industry (CBI).
