Could hospitals be charged for MRSA deaths?

    NHS staff have become the latest in line to be warned of the significance of the Corporate Manslaughter Act, which came into force on 6 April 2008.

    In an NHS Confederation event, Justice Minister Maria Eagle described how organisations that owed a duty of care to those killed could be found guilty of an offence under the Act – and said that this could even possibly apply to where patients contract illnesses (such as MRSA) whilst in hospital.
