A safety alert has been issued to raise awareness of the potential dangers of dealing with gas appliance flues in ceiling voids.
The alert, released by the HSE, focuses on a possible risk of poisoning which may arise from a particular arrangement of flues for gas boilers.
The HSE says that a number of boilers currently have a flue which runs through the ceiling void. Commonly, this occurs in multi-storey flats and apartments constructed within the last eight years.
