New Battery Regulations come into force

Businesses producing batteries and battery-powered appliances are being reminded that from today (26 September) any batteries placed on the UK market must comply with the provisions of the EU Batteries Directive.

The Batteries and Accumulators (Placing on the Market) Regulations 2008 states that businesses must comply with a number of technical requirements, which include:
