Mixed reaction to Heyday retirement age decision

    The decision by the Advocate General in the Age Concern challenge to the default retirement age has had a mixed response from concerned parties.

    The Advocate General announced today (23 September) that in the age discrimination case, commonly known as Heyday, the UK’s national legislation that permits employers to dismiss employees aged 65 or over by reason of retirement is not in breach of European law.
