Essex company fined £30,000 after employee injury

    An Essex-based company has been fined a total of £45,000 after a worker became trapped in a conveyor, sustaining severe injuries.

    Colchester Crown Court heard that the employee, from Eastern Counties Laundries Ltd had climbed into a conveyor feeding the washing system to dislodge a blocked item of laundry.

    When the item became free, the conveyor had activated. The employee’s neck and hands then became trapped, resulting in injuries including external bruising and burns, as well ... (269 more words)
