A new Government consultation published today (15 September) is seeking views on an increase in fines for people who fail to comply with seat belt legislation.
The increase will see the current fixed penalty on motorists who fail to wear seat belts doubled from £30 to £60, in a move which is hoped to deter motorists from risking injuries or death to themselves and others.
