Fleetwood Pier fire investigation underway

Another pier – another fire. This time it was the 102 year-old Fleetwood Pier near Blackpool, which was completely gutted following a fire on 9 September 2008.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown. What is known, however, is that the fire started at 4.30am and that the pier is not insured by the owners.

This latest fire follows the destruction of Weston-Super-Mare’s pier in a fire which started on 28 July. Questions were raised about the effectiveness of fire alarms and ... (130 more words)
