Public inquiry into Stockline factory explosion begins

    A public inquiry into a factory explosion in Glasgow which killed nine people and injured 33 begins today (2 July).

    The Stockline Plastics factory, owned and operated by ICL Plastics Ltd and ICL Tech Ltd, was destroyed in 2004 in an explosion caused by a leaking Liquid Petroleum Gas pipe. In August 2007 the two companies were fined £200,000 each after admitting a series of health and safety breaches.  

    The public inquiry has no power to determine civil or criminal liability... (80 more words)
