Man dismissed for not wearing tie wins tribunal case

    A 31-year old delivery driver who was told that he had to wear a collar and tie while his female colleagues could wear football shirts and tracksuits - and who was eventually sacked for not complying with his employer's instructions - has won his sex discrimination claim.

    Employers should consider whether dress codes are really necessary at all and, if they are, ensure that they are not applied unequally between the sexes without the difference being clearly justified.
