A decision on the Agency Workers Directive has been postponed until 2008 after Ministers failed to reach agreement. This directive, which has been under discussion since 2002, is intended to give temporary and casual employees the right to equal treatment with permanent employees on issues such as pay, working time and holidays, after just six weeks in a job.
