The acting chairman of HM Revenue and Customs has admitted in evidence to the Treasury Sub Committee that in the past two and a half years there have been a total of seven incidents of data loss.
David Hartnett was giving evidence to MPs in place of the former chairman Paul Gray who resigned over the loss of two CDs containing the personal details of 25m people.
