The history of flexible working – and what the future holds

When the legislation of 2003 allowed employees with young or disabled children to ask for flexible working, employers were faced with the inevitable issues of getting to grips with the new law.

Employees became used to the idea of home working and the potential for a better balance between work and the rest of their lives. Since then, flexible working has increased and is now a standard feature for many.
