Ex Magistrate loses appeal over gay adoption

    A former magistrate who claimed unfair dismissal after he was told he could not pick and choose which adoption cases to rule on has lost his appeal.

    The original claim was heard by an Employment Tribunal in March, and rejected.

    Andrew McClintock had claimed that he should have the right to opt out of decisions that involved adoption by gay parents, due to his religious beliefs. He also felt that placing children with same sex parents contradicted his duty as a magistrate.
