Fees for the three levels of criminal record checks through the new Criminal Records Bureau will be £12, Home Office Minister Charles Clarke announced today.
The Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) will start issuing disclosures (criminal records checks) later this year. Once the CRB is fully operational, any employer or voluntary organisation will be able to ask a person seeking a job or a position to apply for a certificate.
Employers and voluntary organisations, many of whom will be able to access this information for the first time, will be able to take it into account when judging a person's suitability for a post. This newservice will strengthen safeguards for protecting children and vulnerable adults by providing employers with much wider access to criminal records information.
Free higher level checks - Standard and Enhanced disclosures - for volunteers were announced in February.
