Water company ordered to pay £41,000 after polluting 'special' river

    Severn Trent Water Limited has pleaded guilty at Worcester Magistrates Court to three charges of allowing sewage effluent to leak into the River Teme, a site of special scientific interest.

    The charges were brought by the Environment Agency under the Water Resources Act (1991). Severn Trent Water was fined £34,000 and ordered to pay costs of £7,000.
